Laboratory Service
We are a CLIA-Certified Lab
|
MCHS Laboratory is an integral component of MCHS’s investigative medical team. We are a CLIA-certified laboratory, currently employing 4 full-time techs, all licensed by the state of North Dakota. As per federal regulations, we are enrolled in a proficiency testing program (American Proficiency Institute), and documentation of continued education hours is required for renewal of our North Dakota state license. Our reference laboratory is MedCenterOne Health Systems in Bismarck, ND. Dr. Dwight Hertz is our Laboratory Director. |

The laboratory is equipped with “state-of-the-art” instrumentation and offers an extensive testing menu. In addition to our routine testing we offer cardiac marker tests, the Troponin I and CK-MB, which help the provider determine if a patient has suffered an acute myocardial infarction; hemoglobin A1c, which helps the provider monitor diabetic compliance; urine microalbumin/creatinine ratio test which monitors the progression of diabetic kidney disease; ProBNP which is used to help rule out congestive heart failure; CRP test which is used to indicate and/or monitor an inflammatory process; therapeutic drug testing; thyroid testing, and a PSA test, all of which are run in-house. We perform blood typing, antibody detection tests, and compatibility testing for blood transfusions in-house. Our blood bank keeps a pre-determined selection of blood units on hand.

An additional service that we offer to our community is the ‘Birthday-Month” Health Screens. You can take advantage of a comprehensive chemistry panel, hemoglobin, hematocrit, white blood cell count, lipid panel, and a TSH (thyroid test) at a reduced rate. Males also have the option to add a PSA (prostate specific antigen test) to their health screen. Feel free to call the Lab Manager at 701-842-3000 for further details. |
We are open 24-7 for all emergency testing. Routine outpatient testing hours are Monday-Friday, 8:000am until 5:30pm. We perform testing for the nursing home residents, clinic outpatients (as well as any outpatient testing as long as you have a provider’s order), hospital inpatients, and swingbed patients.
